| 02.26.2006 | dim sum and cars

Emma has been itching to get to get back to a "car show" since we went to the California International Autoshow back in October. So a few weeks ago we went up to L.A. to see the L.A. Auto Show. Curiously enough the 2005 show was in Jan of 2006!

Before hitting the show we met Spiff and Katie in Chinatown for a dim sum brunch. We've been curious about dim sum since Emma picked up Dim Sum for Everyone (Grace Lin) at the library years ago. We all enjoyed it thoroughly, though I think that Emma was less excited by the real thing than the thought of it.

Following our delicious brunch we headed to the show at the L.A. Convention Center. It was jam packed so we didn't get to sit in every car - but we came pretty close!

Cool pictures. What lens did you use for those? Also, I should really take more pictures with Geralyn and other people in them. All of mine seem to be of Sam.

Looks like you all had a great time! I especially like the last shot of Emma "showcasing" the Cadillac (I think). Was it an Escalade?

I think it was an SRX, actually. It's like a VOLVO station wagon, but bigger. Those Escalades are expensive...I was in sticker shock when I heard the price!

Thanks for the compliment, Jamie.

I used a combination of my Canon 50mm f/1.8 and my Tamron 28-75 f/2.8.

All of the dim sum shots were with the little 50 wide open and at 400 ISO. (I should have been shooting at 800, though, to get rid of any blur.)

Most of the ones at the auto show were with the Tamron. In general between f/4 and f/2.8 and at 400 ISO.
