2002 Leonids
2002.11.19 02:00 - 03:30

I set up to watch the 2002 Leonids in the same place I'd watched in 2001, a construction yard several miles out on Ortega Highway.

This shot has a barely visible meteor a little above the horizon about 1/3 of the way from left edge. Look for a bright head and a very faint tail.
Just caught the tail end of a meteor here in the bottom right quadrant of the photo, just left of the tree.

Exposure time here was probably 5 minutes, compared to the 10 or so in the shot above.
You can barely make out a long meteor in the right 1/3 of the shot. Barely, but it is there :)
This one had a very short tail, but was bright.

It brought an "Ah" from the other folks (all two of them) that were at the same site.
Doh! Just missed a really bright one in this shot.

The moon was so bright it was tough to capture more than the very brightest.
This is the best shot of the bunch. Fairly short exposure time (~ 3 minutes) made the sky pretty black but also introduced some grain.

Ah well - it is still my favorite out of the bunch.
