Henry Owen turned two today. Happy birthday, my boy!
It doesn’t seem like that long ago that we brought him home from the hospital, premature and frighteningly small.
Both Marla and I wanted to put on a big shindig like Emma’s party this summer (Marla did a fabulous job) but, to be honest, with all the craziness at the end of the year neither of us had the energy to go big. As it turned out it was cold – for California, at least – and rained all day long. A party at the park would have been a disaster.
So, we had his party last weekend at Hop On Adventures. In addition to the 22-foot slide, bounce house and inflatable maze, Marla had prepared some great activities for the kids: cottonball snowmen and decorating cupcakes to look like ornaments.
Our family’s addiction to Cars continues unabated so Henry was delighted by the cake. It was, in fact, quite the source of frustration during the day since he could see it but not play with it.
Everyone had a wonderful time and, as the party wound down, it was time to hand out the goody bags to all the kids that attended. The bags were filled with yummy marshmallow treats that Emma and Marla made. If I didn’t know better I’d have guessed they were professionally made candies worth a few bucks each. Maybe there’s a future business there…
Happy birthday, sweetie! Best wishes and a perfect day! Big kiss, Jaimie!
