“Hello. My name is Henry and I am a cutie pie.”
These shots are from when Henry-boy was first beginning to eat “people food,” nibbling on the food from my or Marla’s plate. As you can see he loves it. If it would please the jury, I present the following evidence for this assertions.
Marla has taken a few cute shots of Our Boy Henry over the past few days that I had to share without delay.
First is a play-by-play series of Henry’s first taste of delicious sand. We were at the Lagoon for a Mom’s Club cookout and Henry decided he’d like to see what that stuff on his toes tasted like. Apparently not so good, but the grit in his mouth couldn’t keep him from smiling anyway.
Henry has his first tooth! It’s a little out of focus in the picture below, but you should be able to make it out.
We spotted it under the gum a few weeks ago and early last week it finally broke through. Grandpa Mandel won a fabulous prize (a batch of delicious cookies from Marla) for guessing Henry’s big news first. They’re on the way, Grandpa… promise! (Well, “on the way” as soon as Marla makes them!)
What a day!
Yes, we all felt the earthquake, although it was only Mommy and Daddy who realized that something was up. (Our second one this week!) I was changing Henry’s diaper at the time and putting one in the diaper genie when I heard a loud noise and saw the window shades moving.
Our sweet Henry Owen passed the four month mark last week and had his check-up with Dr. Dyer on Monday.
We’re happy to say that Henry is doing fine and proud to report that he’s now broken out of the bottom 5th on the weight chart and catapulted up to the bottom 15th percentile! He weighed in at a whopping 13 pounds 3 ounces.
Henry has the most amazing smile. He started really showing it off the first week of April and now smiles constantly, as evidenced in the pictures. We’ve even had a few full-on giggles in the past few days. They are the cutest thing you’ve ever seen or heard.
My parents were out last week for their first visit since Henry was born. Grandma Northcutt stayed with us while poor ol’ Granpaw Northcutt had to go to work each day. She enjoyed her visit with Henry immensely, as you can see.
A few weeks after Marla started breastfeeding Henry she started getting anxious, worrying about if he was getting enough, if her supply would keep up, etc. The lactation consultant recommended that she start pumping and feeding Henry from a bottle. Supply would be steady, she would know exactly how much he’s eating… problems solved!
We had our weekly doctor visit on Monday checking on Henry’s growth. We were all pleasantly surprised to find that he’d gained a whopping 13 ounces in just one week! (The average is 0.5 – 1 ounce per week.)
My dad, AKA Grandpaw, was in town just after Christmas on business. Despite being over 50 miles away in glorious Rancho Cucamonga he struggled through LA traffic to meet his second grandchild. (Well, Riverside traffic, anyway, which can be worse.)
