Emma’s award-winning performance of Rondo from Sonatina: Opus 36, #5 by Clementi. This clip showcases classic Emma behaviors, from the way she talks about the left-behind music, to her frustration that the music stand won’t go down and the way she starts even before she’s fully seated. Classic, I tell you.
When I first heard her practicing this piece I kept thinking to myself, “This reminds me of ‘A Groovy Kind of Love‘. Surely Phil Collins wouldn’t stoop to such depths?”
Turns out, “A Groovy Kind of Love” is, in fact, inspired by this Clementi piece. It was first recorded by The Mindbenders in 1965 and was a hit. Who knew?
