With heavy hearts we took our friend Joost “Silverdawn” Loijens out for a farewell dinner a few weeks ago. He’s moving up to IGN/GameSpy HQ in Brisbane, CA. We checked out the new Fox Sports place at the Irvine Spectrum (tasty).

Emma Speaks

It just blows me away how quickly Emma is picking up words and concepts these days. I came home from our home owners’ board meeting (I’m the secretary and treasurer, apparently) and Emma couldn’t wait to tell me about her trip to the grocery store.

Ain’t pudding yummy? Emma sure thinks so. She had a blast sampling a batch Marla made the other night. Thankfully none was spilled on the nice dress her Aunt Jessica gave her.

Emma at Play

Emma loves to play. (Who doesn’t?) It’s amazing to me the number of ways she can entertain herself with in just one day. The gallery below is a great example. From being a ballerina, to watering plants outside, to having a tea party, to playing under a sheet in just under 8 hours. Whew!

Two Sets of Grandparents

I’m back from GDC and raring to post pictures. The set below are from the rare weekend where at least one grandparent from each side of the family were in town at the same time. They weren’t actually in our house at the same time, but they were both in the county. Or something.

Spring Approaches

Can you belive it is almost spring time? Things are starting to bud and bloom here and the temps have risen from chilly winter (60 F) to warm spring (70 F). Ah, California!

A few pics of Emma and then it’s off to bed for me.

Emma Drinks Tea

Marla’s been on a bit of a tea kick lately. We’ve been having some dandy Earl Grey or chai tea almost every night. Not one to be left out, Miss Emma had to try. As you can see below, she loved it!

Our Little Talker

Emma has blossomed into quite the little talker over the past few weeks. It is amazing how quickly she’s advanced from communicating with just one word to stringing together two or three and even making complete sentences. Her first full sentence happened last Sunday and was:

Bathtub Photo Shoot

Usually I get to give Emma her bath during the weekend. It’s always a bunch of fun for both of us. Daddy is a little more lenient with it comes to splashing (and many other things) than Mommy is. That’s just the way of things, I guess. I spent most of our bath on Sunday with the camera in hand while Emma happily splashed up a storm. Here are the results.

Tootsie Rolls Gymnastics

For some strange reason I had Presidents’ Day off this year. (Thanks, Mark!) That meant I could stay home and head to Tootsie Rolls with Marla and Emma. They go each week and always have a blast. Now you can see why!
