30 Years Later
My kids are riding down the same sleepy streets that I did with my brother.
I’d Like More S’Mores
Cousins Bailey and Madison joined the CA Northcutts for a family trip out to Broad River Bison the day after Thanksgiving. We set out bundled against the cold for our traditional hay ride around the farm, touring Bailey’s Bottom, Madison’s Meadow, Emma’s Pond and Henry’s Hollow snuggled in scarves and stocking caps. Uncle Paul fed the buffalo a few tasty apples and received a slobbery finger for his trouble.
Entertained at 37000 Feet
Emma and Henry quietly entertained at 37000 feet! (Thanks, Google, for the free WiFi!)
Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairy
Emma’s winter piano recital was all music from The Nutcracker Suite, which Tchaikovsky extracted from the two hour Nutcracker ballet. (The ballet was apparently a flop when first produced!)
Emma practiced this piece relentlessly for the past few months and forced us all to listen to the Suite in the car, as well. Who couldn’t stand a little more celesta in their life, eh?
Beach Sunset
An amazing sky tonight at sunset filled with ripple clouds.
That Was Thanksgiving
Last year we took a thousand-mile-journey to Atlanta for Thanksgiving. (This year we stayed home.) The weather was colder than California, for sure, but the atmosphere was warmer with aunts, uncles and cousins galore. I have great memories growing up of 20+ person Thanksgiving meals – with both sets of families on the same day.
Pink Pig 2009
Whenever one is in the ATL around the holidays one must visit the Pink Pig. It’s a fact. Nay, a law. I submit Exhibit A, photographic proof that the Northcutt’s embarked on said obliged visit in November of 2009.
Halloween 2010
Halloween 2010 in the Northcutt household was amazing! Cora was old enough this year to wear a costume and enjoy walking around in it. Emma and Henry had conspired to make this year a Star Wars-themed Halloween. We would have Anakin (Henry), Padme (Emma) and Yoda (Cora) trick-or-treating together, truly a Force to be reckoned with. (Har har.)
In The Bath
There’s a great song by Lemon Jelly called In The Bath that immediately came to mind as I was working up this set. Please listen to it as you run through these pictures. We’re no strangers to Lemon Jelly: Nice Weather for Ducks was one of Emma’s favorites as a baby.
