Today we visited Pu’uhonua o Honaunau, also called “Place of Refuge.” This was a very sacred site for Hawaiians in ages past. In addition to learning a little Hawaiian history here we were also treated to our first turtle-spotting. Continue reading
Our flight was delayed due to a “security breach” in Orange County and traffic from the Kona/Keahole airport was abysmal but we are here in Hawaii at last, our home for the next 12 days. Continue reading
The final stop on my short European jaunt was to Salzburg, Austria. I was unsure what to expect, with my only real exposure to Austria being from The Sound of Music. After spending a couple of days there it now rates among the places I definitely want to visit again. Continue reading
One of my favorite buildings in Berlin was the Berliner Dom (Berlin Cathedral). It was right across the river from our ultra-modern hotel and I like the juxtaposition of the old and the new. Surprisingly the cathedral is only 100 years old, finished right at the turn of the century. Continue reading
The last time I was in Germany was the summer before The Wall came down. The city was divided with the few border crossings guarded by scary-looking guys in heavy wool trench coats, carrying machine guns and flanked by German Shepherds. Sweden is cool. I’ve been here for three full days now and am having fun. We’re working very hard (12 – 14 hour days) but with 16 hours of sunlight it makes it a little easier to wander around before and after work to see a few sights.
So, I’m in Sweden! You read that right. 4200 miles from home in sunny SoCal. I’m here on business working on a project with our fine friends from <client name>. Who is <client name>? you are wondering? I’ll tell you in approx 6 more months when the game ships!
