Little Soccer Star
Cora has been walking for two weeks but, as you can see from the video below, she’s already well on her way to becoming a soccer super star.

Emma and Henry went on their first fishing expedition this year. Granpa and Henry had gone on a special shopping trip to prepare and came back with a fishing hat and a fancy Spiderman rod. After practicing his casting at the farm the previous day, Henry and Emma were ready to rock.
Cora and I were watching football the other day when I suddenly realized that she had been sitting next to me spitting for the last 5 minutes. I whipped out the iPhone and captured her spitting for another 2 minutes. She was happy as could be, completely drenched in drool and spit.
Our last visit to Broad River Bison was an exciting one. The bison were grazing in a brand new pasture! On previous visits we’d seen them in nearly-bare pasture. With two pastures available rotation is possible, which gives the grass a chance to regrow. The gorgeous green hillside made for some dramatic photos. (Patchy cloud cover helped, too!)
There’s nothing I enjoy more than watching someone completely caught up in the moment. It could be a great musician performing, an athlete in the midst of concentration… or, in this case, Henry focused on wringing every ounce of enjoyment possible from a toy truck and a pile of sand. He played for all he was worth!
We spent a day with the Northcutt Clan in April. The kids thoroughly enjoyed driving one another in their shiny new electric cars. Â We only had to worry about Cora being nearly run over a few times. Â That didn’t stop me from napping in the sun, though.
It’s hard to believe that an entire year has passed since Cora joined us but time does fly, especially when you are having fun.
We had an excellent birthday shindig this evening, attended by many and enjoyed by all. A few photos for now with more to come. As you can see, of course, the birthday girl enjoyed both her first slice of pizza as well as the yummy cake that followed.
If you’re a fan of messy babies, you are in luck! This set of photos shows Cora gnawing on her first biter biscuit. It was a messy affair, indeed, and one that she enjoyed immensely.
Henry’s second t-ball game looked like it was going to be a win. This, of course, is tough to do in a league where you don’t keep score. The opposing team hadn’t shown up for the game so after 15 minutes of waiting the coaches declared a “forfeit” and launched into practice mode.
My favorite food in the world are Marla’s buttermilk biscuits. They’re flakey, buttery and gosh-darn good. To make excellent biscuits you must use soft, winter wheat flower. The lower protein and gluten content makes for softer, flakier biscuits. We like White Lily, which we import from afar. (We’ll do a “macrotastic” set of Marla baking them one day.)
